The IP45 is introduced replacing the IP44, of which 35 were built. On what will go down as one of the happier days of Bob’s life, the Island Packet 45 wins the 1995 Cruising World "Boat of the Year" award. The IP45 is also awarded "Best Value" for a full size cruising yacht. No builder has ever received both best overall and best value awards in the same year. Larry and Lynn Lewis, Island Time (IP38-72) win 1st in Class and 2nd Overall in the Caribbean 1500.
